- Usually yes. Stack stone can go over drywall, brick, or an old tile surround once we add the right backer and lath so the wall can carry the weight. We inspect the existing structure and clearances first and tell you honestly if something needs to come off before we start.
- How long does a fireplace stone project take?
- A standard floor-to-ceiling surround usually takes two to four working days including prep, setting stone, and finishing the hearth. Full accent walls or jobs with a stone mantel and custom corners run a little longer. We give you the schedule up front and keep the room protected while we work.
- What materials do you work with?
- Natural stack stone, ledger panels, manufactured stone veneer, split-face and river rock, plus stone and tile hearths. Manufactured veneer is lighter and easier to handle, while natural stone gives you depth and color variation you cannot fake. We will show you both and explain how each one ages.
